Navy wins Hikal Cup

Mumbai, 9th March 09 - Indian Navy overcame Shivram Enterprises 2-0 to clinch the title in the 8th Hikal Cup Corporate Invitation Tennis Tournament at the Bombay Gymkhana.
 
Navy, who shocked defending champions Reliance ‘A’ in the semi-finals, kicked off a rewarding day when A. Pednekar beat Shivram’s Amrish Arora in the opening singles.
 
Pednekar later combined with Narendra to prevail over Arora and Karan in the doubles to seal the match.
 
Hikal Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Jai Hiremath and Mrs. Hiremath presented the prizes to the winners and the runners up. For the first time, Hikal also gave away special trophies in recognition of the best player of the tournament, Narendra from Indian Navy and Shantanu Engineer, the youngest and the upcoming player of the tournament.
 
Result (Final): Indian Navy bt Shivram Enterprises 2-0 (A. Pednekar bt Amrish Arora; Pednekar/Narendra bt Arora/Karan).
